Tanner is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, NCCP Certified Coach, and CPR/First Aid Certified. Tanner received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Saint Francis Xavier University in 2019. Tanner is now graduating at the top of his class from his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University (with distinction). His outstanding academic achievement within Kinesiology is recognized by being a member of The Golden Key International Honours Society. Tanner is a passionate learner and keeps up to date on current research relevant to this practice in order to offer the best possible service to his clients.
Tanner’s passion for human health and performance is illustrated by his 10 years of experience in a variety of styles of resistance training, including bodybuilding, powerlifting, and Olympic weightlifting. As well as having competed in a variety of sports such as Rugby, Taekwondo, and boardercross. Tanner often incorporates athletic styles of training into his own programs to ensure he is physically competent and well-practiced in what he is asking of his athletes and clients.
Tanner was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Saint Mary’s University for two years, while also running his personal training business since 2019. Additionally, Tanner was a student athletic trainer in the Dalhousie Athletic Trainers Program from 2020 to 2022. He has worked with the Men’s Basketball Team and the Men’s Rugby Team performing injury assessments, first aid, and taping. Tanner also hosts a podcast, called The Elevation Podcast, in which he interviews a variety of experts from different areas of human health and performance which makes him well rounded in his perspectives and approaches as a coach.
Tanner believes in an evidence-based approach that best fits the individual’s needs. Consistency, sustainability, and measurable improvement are the top priority of every program. He applies proper periodization and exercise science principles to maximize your results and performance. He also offers and implements advanced forms of training such as velocity-based training, making him a great coach for high performance athletes looking to “up their game”.
A core principle to Tanner’s training style is informed programming. He is a strong believer in transparency in his programs and always having a purpose for decisions in a program. He wants to help you become the best version of yourself and for your whole life. To Tanner, this means providing you with the skills and knowledge to continue to exercise and train on your own.
In his free time Tanner enjoys spending time with friends and family, backcountry camping, hiking, and gaining new experiences.
