Erin is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Dalhousie Kinesiology Graduate. She first found her interest and passion for fitness through sports, primarily basketball and soccer. Erin played, high level basketball, playing for many competitive summer teams, such as Team Nova Scotia and for the Dalhousie Tigers. Practically living on the court, Erin was always interested in human movement and how to make the body healthier and stronger. Getting her first real taste of the weight room, while playing basketball at Dalhousie, Erin learned what training could do for the body and has never looked back since!
Throughout her years of playing sports, she developed a better understanding of how important Strength and Conditioning is. It is, not only a supplement to performance, but, also a key factor in enhancing performance and preventing injuries. This interest in the human body and love for sports ultimately inspired her to pursue a career in strength and conditioning.
During her time at Dalhousie, Erin had the opportunity to be a part of the ACCESS program, which is a study aimed to reduce the impact of cancer and its effects of treatment and improve the participant’s overall well-being. She completed the Thrive Cancer and Exercise Training, which is a CSEP recognized course and lead the participants through a 12-week individualized exercise program. This gave Erin a better understanding of special considerations for training and tailoring exercise to specific populations. She also was a student athletic trainer for the Kings College Women’s and Men’s Soccer teams, working with the ACCEL Physiotherapy team. Since then, she was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Dalhousie University from the fall of 2020 to the end of 2021.
Erin has worked at several gyms, working with youth athletes, as well as the general population to help clients achieve their goals, whether the goals are performance based, wanting to bring out your inner athlete, or equipping yourself to tackle activities of daily living. When she is not in the gym, Erin is usually outside, finding new places to explore in the maritimes, whether it is a new food place or a scenic outdoor adventure! She also loves baking and trying out new fun recipes.
